Abondance Abbey
Built in the 12th century, the Abbey made its mark on the history of Abondance village and shaped the lives of its inhabitants. Situated in the centre of the village at the heart of the Chablais massif, between Lake Geneva and the Swiss border, in 1875 this treasure became the first Savoyard building to be classified as a historic monument. Its abbey, remarkable cloister and convent buildings make the Abbey a centerpiece of the Pays d’art et d’histoire pays d’Evian – vallée d’Abondance.
The Notre Dame Abbey is still magnificently preserved and reveals the power of its Gothic mountain architecture along with its superb artistic treasures within.
The Abbey’s staff has the pleasure of putting on numerous activities and events that enable you to discover all the riches of this site.
