Châtel
Adolphe Vuarand built the Villapeyron sawmill after the First World War. The equipment changed ownership several times.
The sawmill is divided into two parts : a workshop and a space where saw blades were sharpened.
Upstream of the sawmill, a small canal brought water from the Dranse. The paddle wheel activated by the current then powered the saws. A wooden bracket equipped with a jack was used to load the boards on transport trailers.
The municipality of Châtel recently restored this building reflecting the intense economic activity related to woodworking.
