Vinzier is a rural village located on the Gavot Plateau. An astronomic observatory was built within the district by the members of the Léman Astronomic Association. The observatory houses a 300 mm Newtonian telescope (f-ratio of 5.7). The "Planet Trail" begins at the observatory and winds its way for nearly 13 kilometres to the Col des Moises pass.
